Camp NanoWriMo

Greetings!

For some, the coming of spring means flowers, rain, and sunshine. For writers, it means that Camp NanoWriMo is quickly approaching.

What is Camp NanoWriMo?

Camp NanNoWrimo is a virtual writer’s retreat, designed for maximum flexibility and creativity. During the month of April, writers from around the goal join virtual cabins and set a goal to complete over the course of the month. The goal can relate to any writing project, such as a new novel idea, revision, poetry, short stories, or poetry. The word count goal is completely up to the writer.

Interested in joining in on the challenge or learning more?

Figure of Speech is hosting a Camp NanoWriMo workshop on Friday, March 23 during lunch in room 504. Come join other writers to learn more about Camp NanoWriMo and start the planning process. Snacks will be provided.

Throughout the month of April, Figure of Speech will be participating in informal write-ins for writers to gather and share their ideas and problem solve. These will take place at the Starbucks on 2830 Willamette St on April 7, 14, and 28.

Hope to see you there!

Back to School Contests

Welcome back to another year of Figure of Speech!

With fall comes the rush of homework, clubs, and sports. It can be hard to find some time to divulge in your creative side. Lucky for you, Figure of Speech has a lot of great opportunities this coming year to keep your creative engines running.

For the first time ever, Figure of Speech will be putting on a monthly writing contest. Each month will feature a different theme with optional prompts to choose from. Each contest will run from the first to the last day of the month with the exception of the September/October “New Adventures Contest”. The winners of each contest will be featured in the 2017/18 volume with an author’s biography next to their work. Make sure to check out the Contest page for more details on how to submit. The deadline for the September contest will be October 31st.

Good luck and start writing!
